Another collection of mainly originals, including my smooth jazz version of the old Lovin' Spoonful tune,
Groovin'. I play a lot of the instruments on this album, but I also had a lot of help, and I love the way it sounds. Very smooth and upbeat, but with very relaxed vibe over all.
I was lucky enough to twice play the National Anthem at a Los Angeles Lakers game - this was during the Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar period - and as I was a HUGE Lakers fan at the time it was a HUGE honor for me. In fact, I've played the solo sax version of The Star Spangled Banner about a thousand times; one day I decided to do an actual band arrangement of it. It's on this album and I call it "Spangled Banner". It includes an amazing synth solo by
Steve Weingart.
